I've just been cutting some walnut bindings off of Andy's 6" wide side sets! I've got a bunch of cherry neck blanks and offcuts coming from him.

I like the look of that finish, I will be using tru-oil on the neck, but may give it a go on the whole instument now, though I am fairly wedded to my French polish.

Yes parabolic isn't for the strummer but for modern fingerstyle the fast response, separation and balance are just great. How are your customers finding it?

Nice silking on the top is it one of Touchstones?

Colin

Hi Colin

The Bindings on this one came from the same place.

The Oil is a nice finish as it is open, and doesn't require filing, a lot of my customers who play semi pro or pro seem to like it, but of course it is not as hard wearing or protective.

The ones I have out there with Parabolic Bracing haven't been out that long, but have been well recieved, I am working on a hybrid bracing at the moment.

The Top is a Select Grade from Touchstone.

Russell, a good compromise on hybrid bracing is to parabolic the X brace and scallop the tone bars. Sounds like a slightly richer toned parabolic, and is less of a culture clash for those used to scalloped. Especially good on WRC tops. An alternative is just to parabolic the treble side X brace, for harder players.

I've got a couple of touchstones Master Grade tops (they had no select grade) and they are the best spruce I've bought in recent years. Although when he's just bought a load back from the continent, the Timberline tops are amazing, but you have to get there before Paddy.
